Dusting of Snow Forecasted Thursday Night/Early Friday, Weekend Weather Looks To Be in 50’s and Partly Sunny

By Jesse Wood

Nov. 6, 2014. Snow is in the forecast for late Thursday night and early Friday.

But don’t expect the kind of snow we received last weekend. RaysWeather.com notes that a dusting is in the forecast and an inch or two is possible above 4500 feet – all for the western half of the Appalachians.

Thursday rain showers are expected to turn into snow flurries.

“Colder air arrives at sunset and rain showers will transition to snow showers tonight. That transition will happen around or just before sunset at highest elevations on the west side of the Appalachians then progress down in elevation and from west to east across the region. Snow showers and flurries will end by noon on Friday,” according to RaysWeather.com’s recent forecast.

Last Saturday, Appalachian State Mountaineers played in what was dubbed the “snow bowl,” where the temperatures were freezing and gusty winds were whirling around Kidd Brewer Stadium. That won’t be the case this Saturday when the Mountaineers face University of Louisiana-Monroe.

The high temperature on Saturday is forecasted to 52 with plenty of sunshine in the daytime. Sunday looks much the same.
