July 4, 2014. A few hours ago, the annual Downtown Boone Fourth of July Parade marched down King Street to the delight of hundreds of spectators that came out to watch.

The beautiful sunny weather this year was a stark and welcome contrast to the deluge that spectators and participants faced during the parade last year. The theme of this year’s parade was “Life in Boone…How Sweet It Is!” The parade traveled down King Street in downtown Boone and concluded at Poplar Grove Extension Social Services parking lot.

Sonny and Brica Sweet acted at this year’s Grand Marshals for the parade.
