Downtown Boone, Library Hosts Fall Story Walk Through Nov. 2: ‘Countdown To Fall’

The Downtown Boone Development Association and the Watauga County Library are delighted to once again host a fall downtown Boone Story Walk. The downtown Boone fall Story Walk runs from Sept. 23 through Nov. 2. Families, schools and community groups are encouraged to participate in this family, friendly downtown event.

DownloadedFileThe goal of the Story Walk project is to encourage families to play outside, increase exercise, and promote reading. The downtown Boone Story Walk places a laminated page or set of pages from a children’s book in store front windows. Children and their families can stroll from store to store reading the book while traveling through downtown.

The Story Walk Project was first created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt., and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. The Story Walk program offers a fun, safe family friendly activity and provides participates with the opportunity to enjoy and discover downtown Boone.

This fall’s Story Walk features Count Down to Fall by Fran Hawk and illustrated by Sherry Neidigh. This is an entertaining counting book with delightful illustrations and pictures sure to keep all ages amused. The Story Walk starts at the Watauga Co. Library on Queen St. and follows Depot and W. King streets. Parking for Story Walk participates is available at the library and the Queen Street and Depot Street parking areas.
