Downtown Boone Spring StoryWalk Continuing Until May 22

The Downtown Boone Development Association and the Watauga County Public Library are delighted to once again host a downtown Boone Spring StoryWalk. The downtown Boone Spring StoryWalk started on Thursday, April 13 and will conclude on May 22. Families, schools, and community groups are encouraged to participate in this family, friendly downtown program.

The goal of the StoryWalk project is to encourage families to get outside, increase exercise, and promote reading. The downtown Boone Spring StoryWalk places a laminated page or set of pages from a children’s book in store front windows. Children and families stroll from business to business reading the book while traveling through downtown Boone.

The StoryWalk® Project was first created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. The StoryWalk program is a fun, safe, family friendly activity that provides families with the opportunity to enjoy and discover downtown Boone.

The downtown Boone Spring StoryWalk starts at the Watauga County Public Library located at 140 Queen Street and follows Depot and W. King streets ending at Melanie’s Food Fantasy. Parking for StoryWalk participants is available at the library and the Queen and Depot street parking areas.
