Dolly Weikert and Ryan McGuire Recipients of Boone Worthwhile Women’s Club Scholarships

April 17, 2014. This year, the Boone Worthwhile Women’s Club Scholarship Committee is awarding two $1,000 educational scholarships to be used by the recipients this Fall towards the cost of books and tuition.

To be considered for this scholarship, a person must live in Watauga County for twelve consecutive months, have either a high school diploma or GED and have shown financial need. The two selected were Dolly Weikert and Ryan McGuire. 

Dolly is presently employed by Appalachian Health Department. This young mother of two boys, ages 3 and 4, is completing her Associate of Arts degree at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.

She has set a goal to transfer her credits to Appalachian State University and earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Economics. 

Ryan has been working at Auto-Bell and attending Caldwell Community College. His plan is to transfer to Appalachian State University to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and Biology.

He will apply for admittance into the Wake Forest University Physician Assistant program now offered on the Appalachian State University campus.
