Doe Ridge Pottery in Boone is participating in WNCW-FM’s fall fund drive by creating 200 custom coffee mugs for the station to use as “thank-you” gifts to those who donate to the listener-supported, independent radio station.

The mugs were recently crafted and will soon make their way to the station’s headquarters in Spindale at Isothermal Community College, where they will be shipped to those who donate $85 during the fundraiser.

WNCW reached out to Bob Meier, owner of Doe Ridge Pottery, about creating these mugs, and it seems to be a win-win for both entities. Meier agreed to make the mugs for 80 percent of the wholesale price and some underwriting spots on the radio.

Fittingly, he molded the clay into shape while listening to WNCW, which is always on in the background of the workshop that is located under the street level of King Street.

“I like WNCW. I have always listened to it,” Meier said. “I am excited about it. I like supporting WNCW because I think they are a good outfit. They do a good job and have nice programming that I like.”

WNCW-FM’s fall fund drive takes place from Oct. 25-31.

In addition to the mugs, WNCW is offering “Crowd Around the Mic, Volume 19” CD, WNCW t-shirts printed by Green Light Ink, toboggans with the WNCW logo, CDs from artists in the WNCW rotation and more. Donors will be entered into a contest for a Colorado microbrew package for two.
