DMV Headquarters Building Still Down Due to Power Outage, Statewide Services Also Affected

UPDATE: Feb. 8, 2013. Power at the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles’ headquarters will continue to be out all day today. This may continue to have a limited effect on driver license and vehicle registration services across the state. Customers are urged to call any DMV office before they visit to make sure the service they need will be available. An update will be provided this afternoon.

The power outage initially occurred about 11 a.m., Feb. 7.

Feb. 7, 2013. RALEIGH — North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles services have been disrupted due to a power outage in its headquarters building shortly after 11 a.m. this morning. 

Computer systems used to conduct DMV services statewide have been affected. Customers are urged to call any DMV office before they visit until further notice. Repair work is expected to last through tonight. An update will be sent out as soon as more information is known.
