Four years ago today, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Deputy William Mast Jr. died in the line of duty.

In light of the anniversary of Mast’s death and the troubling times in communities across the country, Watauga County Sheriff Len Hagaman is asking for prayers.

“Please be in prayer for Paige and Hunter and the Mast family, and for Preston and Rebecca Russell and the Russell family,” Watauga County Sheriff Len Hagaman said.

“Also, please be in prayer for ALL of the men and women in law enforcement, as they strive to daily serve and protect our citizens.”

Mast served on the force for about four years before he was killed during a domestic call off of Hardin Road in Deep Gap on July 26, 2012
