Depot/Howard Street Intersection Now All-Way Stop

The intersection of Depot and Howard streets is now an all-way stop.

Don’t zone out on Depot Street, there’s two new stop signs near Footsloggers.

After the resurfacing of Depot Street, the Howard and Depot streets intersection is now an all-way stop.

The Boone Town Council approved this measure at its July meeting. In a memo to council, Boone Public Works Director Rick Miller recommended this conversion in advance of the final Howard Street improvement plans and given the need to resurface Depot Street.

Previously, motorists on Depot Street had to yield for the crosswalks, while the one-way Howard Street featured a stop sign. Likely to take some time to get used to for those travelling Depot Street over the years, the stop signs feature temporary orange flags.
