Members of the ASU and the Boone communities will join together on Saturday, April 16 in efforts for suicide prevention at the second annual App State Out of the Darkness Campus Walk.
This event takes place through the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and will include tabling form various mental health related organizations, speakers and a walk of approximately three miles.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. for the walk, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sanford Mall, 300 Locust Street, on the ASU campus.
The event is free to attend and participate, although fundraising is encouraged. A portion of funds raised will go to local efforts in the Boone community.
Last year, the event raised more than $16,000 for suicide prevention, research, education, advocacy and support. The community came together to spread awareness and home, end the stigma associated with suicide and educate one another on the topic.
Register for the event online or check out the Facebook page for more information.
