Daily Tunes will be bringing you live music performances in the High Country area for every day of the week. Get out there and enjoy the cool breezes and relaxing music of summer before it’s over!
The Cook Memorial park in Todd is an absolutely gorgeous scene, filled with plenty of open, green spaces and tons of lively people. The beautiful New River flows ever northward right beside it, and kiddos hop carefully across the stones, laughing with glee when their toes get a little soaked. The performers sing and play out of an elegant wooden gazebo, inviting the crowd to clap along.
Todd, located between Boone and West Jefferson, was founded in 1833 with the establishment of the South Fork Baptist Church. In the heart of Todd’s historic district, the Cook Memorial Park will host its annual outdoor Summer Concert Series every Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. On July 4th, the King Bees will play after the 11 a.m. Liberty Parade stomps and whistles its way down to the park.
Admission to the concerts won’t cost you a cent, and food is available for purchase. Large tents will be set up for protection from rain or the sun’s hot rays.
Performing this Saturday night is the incredibly talented Amantha Mill Band. This folksy group focuses mostly on producing some amazing bluegrass music, and they have “one foot rooted firmly in our heritage and the other planted in exploring new acoustic sounds.”
Wayne Henderson and Friends, an old time music group, will perform at the next Todd Summer Concert.
Half of the fun of going to these concerts is the enjoyment of the stunning drive there. Bring your dancing feet to Todd and kick back to some truly outstanding performances amidst glowing views of the mountains.
