DAILY TUNES: The Outdoor Music Scene The Inn at Crestwood’s Thursday Night Concert Series, Tonight: Handlebar Betty

By Elly Murray

Daily Tunes will be bringing you live music performances in the High Country area for every day of the week. Get out there and enjoy the cool breezes and relaxing music of summer before it’s over!

Down the bewitching Shulls Mill Road lies a charming inn, home to the Inn at Crestwood Summer Music Series. If you enjoy more classy and sophisticated music events, attend one of the Thursday night events at this elegant inn in Blowing Rock.

As the sun is setting above the trees, the band will begin to play on the spacious patio area, above a courtyard full of green. The patio has tables and chairs available for music guests, so there’s no need to bring your own. You can simply relax and enjoy exquisite music from 6 to 9 p.m., free of charge.

Originally a homestead, this wonderful inn was converted into a lodging complex and a restaurant and bar. April Green at the Inn describes the event, saying, “It’s just a good, cheerful, but very chill atmosphere I would say. Beautiful views, good food, good music, and good people.”

This Thursday, Handlebar Betty will be performing live at the Inn! They’re an upbeat group of five from Boone that performs a lot of folksy type of music, including roots, rock, soul, country, and bluegrass.

Analog Poets, a flowy and harmonious trio, will perform at the Inn next Thursday.

If weather permits, the music will be held on the patio, but if it gets too rainy or windy, they’ll move the music inside to the main dining room. If you find yourself a little peckish at this event, mouth-watering food is available for around $20 a plate, courtesy of the Inn’s chef, Adam Policinski. Green commented that, “He’s been with us for three years, and one of the favorite (meals) is his short ribs”

There’s also a bar menu available which Green describes as, “just a little more economical, I would say, with burgers and things like that.” She also bubbled about their delicious house-made pretzels that come with, “jalapeno-pimento cheese. They’re amazing; everybody loves these pretzels.”

The Inn at Crestwood will also be having an Independence Day Celebration on July 5th from 6 p.m. until dark. There will be a barbeque buffet with gorgeous fireworks and upbeat live music.  Green also commented that they’ll have, “Lawn games and a bounce house. (It’s) very family friendly, and just a good time.” Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children.

The Inn at Crestwood sits on the edge of a mountain, and has beauteous views of the Blue Ridge mountains that you and anyone you bring with you can enjoy for hours. Come unwind to these outstanding performances for a night—or two or three.
