Commissioners Set Dates for Property Value Appeals in May for Watauga Landowners

The Watauga County Board of Commissioners recently approved the meeting dates for Board of Equalization and Review (E&R), which is the first level of appeal for landowners regarding property tax values.

The commissioners also adopted a resolution retaining commissioners as the E&R board members and County Manager Deron Geouque as the alternate member. As in years past, the member compensation is $75 per session.

Meeting dates times for the commissioners to hear and review appeals of listings and valuations placed upon taxable property in the county are listed below. All the meetings take place from 4 to 7 p.m.

  • May 07, 2015
  • May 13, 2015
  • May 14, 2015
  • May 18, 2015
  • May 21, 2015
  • May 29, 2015

Watauga County Tax Administrator Larry Warren said that if anyone wants to appeal property tax values, they are required to fill out a form obtained from the Watauga County Tax Office and submit it before the adjournment of the E&R board, which is May 29.

The forms are available for pickup at the office or staff can email or fax the relevant form.
