Jan. 27, 2015. Students rejoice! If skiing and snowboarding have been a little bit outside of your price range this year, fear not, Beech Mountain Resort has got you covered. Jan. 30 through Feb. 8, Beech Mountain Resort will host College Week with great discounts, college competitions, live music, contests and much more.
Starting this weekend, students will enjoy great discounts on lift tickets at the Group Sales office with a valid student ID. Discounts will also be available for students on rental equipment, and reservations are required.
“College students can save almost $20 on our lift tickets through group sales on the weekends during College Week,” said Talia Freeman, director of marketing at Beech Mountain Resort.
Throughout the week, Beech Mountain Resort will host a plethora of exciting events including contests, music, food and much more.
“The bulk of the activities will be held on the weekends,” Freeman said.
Kicking off College Week, Jo Vicars will play a concert on Jan. 30 at Beech Mountain Brewery, with a Dr. Bacon performance on Saturday, Jan. 31 starting at 5 p.m. at the Beech Tree Bar and Grill. The next weekend, on Feb. 6, Tony Bailey and Rick Lael will perform in the Beech Mountain Brewing Company and The Broadcast will perform at the Beech Tree Bar and Grille on Saturday, Feb. 7.
USCSA will host three, spectator-friendly collegiate competitions in slopestyle, giant slalom and slalom. Competitions will also be held in non-snow events like corn hole, karaoke and more.
“Made for the military and modified for the street, we’re stoked that Red Bull is visiting us Feb. 7 and 8 for the Appalachian State Battle of the Greeks with their military grade, bass thumping, snow jumping, Mobile DJ Booth that promises to rock the mountain,” Freeman said.
From Red Bull: “The Brothers of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and the ASU Alpine Ski team along with Red Bull and Beech Mountain Resort are teaming up for the first annual College ShredFest where the recognized student organization that brings the most people out to ride for the day will win a Red Bull sponsored party and a $100 gift card!”

Friday, Feb. 6
- Tony Bailey Band at the Brewery – 5 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 7
- Red Bull DJ truck and DJ booth in the village bar – 12-4 p.m.
- Cornhole tournament at the Skybar deck – 1 p.m.
- The Broadcast in the Beech Tree – 5 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 8
- Red Bull DJ Truck and DJ Booth in The Village – 12-4 p.m.
