Coffee Talk with Artist Tony Griffin Held July 19

July 16, 2014. The Art Cellar Gallery summer season of Saturday Coffee Talks continues this Saturday, July 19, with Charlotte artist Tony Griffin. Tony will be in the gallery Saturday morning from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. for a casual talk and will be on hand for conversation about his paintings and drawings. The gallery is currently showing a wide range of this well-known artist’s work, which ranges from large landscapes to plein air paintings and figurative work from oil portraits to charcoal nudes on paper.

Tony Griffin is also taking appointments for portrait sittings and this is a great opportunity to learn more about his commission portrait work. The Art Cellar Gallery will be scheduling portrait sittings with Griffin throughout the season.

The current exhibition of landscape paintings by artist Joseph Cave and Richard Oversmith continues through July 26. The gallery is expecting new work by sculptor Jane Jaskevich who is bringing new figurative works in stone. Walter Stanford, Zoey Brookshire and Tom Van Nortwick have recently added new work to the galleries exhibit space as well.

Artist Gregory Smith will be the next Coffee Talk artist on Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. He will share inspiration and his artistic view for creating his regional landscapes, trompe l’oeil and other work.

The Art Cellar gallery is located on N.C. 194 just before the Mill Pond in Banner Elk. The Gallery also features its full range of artists on all three floors. Painting, sculpture, glass, wood and pottery is the focus of the gallery which represents artists from across the southeast.
