May 30, 2013. Blasting operations are scheduled to resume in the Cliff Dwellers Inn location on U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock this morning starting at 11 a.m. The area between the intersection with U.S. 221/321 Business and Little Springs Road is scheduled to be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, the work may just involve clearing and preparations instead of blasting, but blasting and clearing may occur.
All vehicles must take posted detours around the blasting zone. The road may open sooner if the work has been completed. If the schedule changes, NCDOT will send out the information via Twitter on the main NCDOT account (@NCDOT) and the NCDOT Eastern Mountain account (@NCDOT_EastMTN).
Also, there will be lane closures in the Rocky Knob Road and Blowing Rock Country Club areas. Remember that the entire area of U.S. 321 through Blowing Rock is not closed, so please help spread the word.
