Tweetsie Railroad will host its 20th weekend of performances by Riders in the Sky this weekend, providing good old-fashioned entertainment for folks who are there to enjoy the park.

The quartet will play Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6-7 with two shows a day at noon and 3 p.m. Performances are free with admission to the park so that guests can enjoy the western quartet and amusement park all in one visit.

“For more than 30 years, Riders In The Sky have been keepers of the flame passed on by the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, reviving and revitalizing the genre,” the group’s website explains. “And while remaining true to the integrity of Western music, they have themselves become modern-day icons by branding the genre with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out Western wit, and all along encouraging buckaroos and buckarettes to live life ‘The Cowboy Way.’”

Riders in the Sky have been together for almost 40 years, and have performed at Tweetsie annually for over half of their career. The group has formulated a harmony between comedy and western music that has been successful in all 50 states and won the group two Grammys awards.

“We feel very honored that they come every year to Tweetsie. They enjoy our audience here at the park and it’s been a nice partnership all these years,” Tweetsie Marketing Director Cathy Robbins said in a previous interview. “They’re incredible musicians and it’s a fun show. They’re extremely talented Grammy Award-winners and they have quite the following. A lot of our guests come back to see them every year.”

Tweetsie will host Riders in the Sky as one of their last big events on a weekly schedule before going back a weekend-only schedule on Aug. 22. Until then, the park will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving attendees plenty of time to enjoy the many attractions and rides at Tweetsie in between performances.

Admission to Tweetsie for adults costs $44, $28 for kids ages 3 to 12 and is free for children two years or younger. More events for Tweetsie can be found on their webpage along with a list of their attractions and ticketing information. Riders in the Sky have also released a list of tour dates and information about themselves here for those interested in learning more before the weekend of performances.
