Chicago-Based Band Ami Saraiya & The Outcome to Play Boone Saloon on King Street on Sept. 5 at 10:30 p.m.

by Becky Petchenik

Sept 5, 2013.  Cabaret inspired indie-folk group, Ami Saraiya & the Outcome are scheduled to play the Boone Saloon on King Street on Sept. 5.  The cover will be $5 and will start at 10:30.

Ami Saraiya & the Outcome is not an easily defined act.  Their music has elements of acoustic folk punk reminiscent of Blackbird Raum and Audra May, but it maintains a playful Balkan-infused cabaret aspect that creates an act that’s more than just a band.

When Ami Saraiya & the Outcome take the stage, a dark and mystic air takes hold of the audience and transposes bar and club stages for distant and far away wonders with a flair for the absurd and the phantasmagoric.

The seven-piece ensemble hails from Chicago.  Ami Saraiya is a veteran of the Chicago electric and folk music scenes and has been a member of several promenent Chicago bands such as pop collective, Radiant Darling, and R&B band Pelvic Delta.

The band features an eclectic instrumentation including accordion, upright bass and violin with Ami’s vocal acrobatics leading the charge.

To date, they have released three albums with their debut LP, Archaeologist, receiving rave reviews from the AV Club and The Chicago Tribune.

Their newest LP, Soundproof Box was released last year and is a solid album that exemplifies the Outcome’s surreal and unique approach to music and performance.
