The final event in the 2017 Shred for the Cup series took place on Sunday.

John-Kevin Mullins (men’s advanced snowboard), Drew Baker (men’s advanced ski), Kaden Rusinko (men’s intermediate snowboard), Wiley Speckmann (men’s intermediate ski), Hailey Trivette (women’s snowboard), Caroline Edwards (women’s ski), Blake Broussard (men’s beginner snowboard) and Parker Sauder (men’s beginner ski) took home top honors in their respective categories.

Finishing its 11th year, the Shred for the Cup Series at Appalachian Ski Mtn. has become the premiere freestyle terrain park competition series in the High Country. This past year, the series averaged about 50 participants, according to Drew Stanley, director of ASM’s App Terrain Park and resort spokesman.

The Shred for the Cup series consists of three winter events (Rail Jam, Big Air and Slopestyle) to test skiers and snowboarders’ skills. Stanley noted that ASM prides itself on creating courses for and appealing to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. In addition to beginner, intermediate and advanced skill categories, the series offers a dedicated women’s category in both ski and snowboard.
