April 19, 2013. The U.S. Forest Service invites families to celebrate Earth Day (Monday, April 22) by visiting one of the four national forests in North Carolina this weekend.
Encompassing 1.25 million acres, the Nantahala, Pisgah, Uwharrie, and Croatan National Forests offer a wide variety of recreational opportunities and scenic vistas.

Remember, turkey season is underway so wear blaze orange or a similar color when visiting the national forests until May 11.
