Catherine J. Smith and Looking Glass Galleries at Appalachian State Host Depth and Breadth Exhibitions

Oct. 14, 2013. Catherine J. Smith Gallery and the Looking Glass Gallery proudly present Depth and Breadth, exhibits featuring works by the students of Appalachian State University’s Department of Art. The exhibition will be on view at the Looking Glass Gallery from Monday, Oct. 11 through Wednesday, Oct. 30, with a reception to be held on Friday, Oct. 26 from 6-7 p.m. in the gallery. 

The Catherine J. Smith Gallery will host the exhibit from Oct. 25-Nov. 15. The gallery will host a reception on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 4:30-6 p.m. Both gallery events are free and open to the public. 

The Depth and Breadth exhibitions showcase works of more than 45 student artists and designers from ASU’s Department of Art. These works, spanning a variety of technique, media and subject matter show the diversity of abilities and experiences of student artists within the ASU community. Similarly, the works shown provide an indication of the quality and range of creative opportunities offered by the Department of Art. 

Catherine J. Smith Gallery is located in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. Gallery hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. and during special events scheduled at the Schaefer Center. The Looking Glass Gallery is located on the first floor of the Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University. Gallery hours for fall 2012 and spring 2013 are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 – 10 p.m.
