For nine straight days, Tweetsie Railroad visitors will experience the real dog days of summer, in a fun and exciting way! From July 23-31, 2016, the K-9s In Flight Frisbee® Dogs will showcase their skills at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., with special Saturday performances at 7:00 p.m. as part of Cool Summer Nights. The dynamic dogs put on acrobatic freestyle routines that have wowed viewers nationwide on television and in special performances. Shows are first-come, first-seated and are included with regular park admission.
All of the dynamic dogs that perform as part of the K-9s In Flight Frisbee® Dogs are rescued or adopted, and the show helps promote and emphasize the importance of pet adoption. These homeless to high-flying dogs are eager to please and will surely thrill your whole family with their amazing feats. Some dogs are expert Frisbee snatchers, some are agility marvels, some are excellent divers and swimmers, but all the four-legged performers are adorable and fun to watch. As both adopter and trainer, John Misita has been producing the K-9s In Flight showcase for over 15 years and has been featured on The Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, ESPN, HBO and more.
North Carolina’s first theme park offers special events such as K9s In Flight, in addition to all of its other fun. Visitors can enjoy the centerpiece of the park – an exciting Wild West ride in a train car pulled by one of Tweetsie Railroad’s historic steam locomotives – along with amusement rides, live shows, arcade games and more. The whole family will have a blast at Miner’s Mountain, where you can try to strike it rich while panning for gold or mining for gems, or visit the 90 animal residents at the Deer Park Zoo.
Tweetsie Railroad is open seven days a week from May 27 through August 21. The park returns to the weekend schedule from August 22 through October 30, including Labor Day Monday. The 2016 season ends Sunday, October 30. The park’s regular hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but will be open until 9:00 p.m. July 9, 16, 23 and 30 for Cool Summer Nights. Daily admission to Tweetsie Railroad is $44 for adults and $28 for children ages 3 through 12. Children 2 and under are admitted free. The Ghost Train® Halloween Festival will take place Friday and Saturday nights September 23 through October 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with an admission price of $36 for adults and children.
