This event will be held in conjunction with the gallery’s ongoing 33rd annual Mid-Summer Group Exhibition, “From a Textural Point of View,” which features work from Andrew Braitman and Toni Carlton through and Sept. 20.

Wearable fiber art can be found in hats, scarves, shawls, ponchos, caplets, jackets and coats during this event. This fiber art is all hand-crafted in a myriad of colors, textures and styles with impeccable craftsmanship.

Necklaces and earrings by Don Haywood are made by a fabrication method which combines many shapes and sizes of sterling silver to create a piece. His regard for natural materials and nature is reflected through the use of many gemstones, fossils and crystals. Haywood also incorporates the art of lapidary, which is the cutting and polishing of the gemstones with each piece being a creation of its own, a one-of-a-kind because of the unique properties and patterns of the gemstones. His designs carry his signature and date of creation to enhance their originality.

An eclectic collection of necklaces, earrings and cuffs by Lisa Cushing Kent can be found at the Jewelry Trunk Show. Kent crafts her designs in sterling, bronze and copper using direct techniques such as piercing, chasing, repousse, applique and fabrication. Living on the Georgia coast is her inspiration to incorporate shell designs, pearls and glass in her unique jewelry line.

Rings and cuffs by Tana Acton are created using a wrap wire method. Her kinetic designs are made using pearls, gemstones and colored turquoise. Through her unique perspective, she combines air, movement and light to create jewelry that is both delicate and solid. Acton’s line is contemporary, lightweight and can be worn as either a casual or formal accessory.

Beautiful necklaces, rings, and earrings by Rebecca Hellman, Terry Thompson and Laura Fly designed with cloisonné, gemstones, and pearls are distinctive works of art for the Jewelry Trunk Show.

Also featured at the Jewelry Trunk show is the highly sculptural, award winning work of Ran Armstrong. His designs are crafted using high quality gemstones such as Ruby, Emerald, London Blue Topaz, Citrine, Aquamarine, Peridot, Amethyst, and Opal. He also uses Chinese Writing Stone and Picasso Marble. It is Armstrong’s desire that each piece of his beautiful jewelry becomes a timeless treasure.

Armstrong is a lapidarist, metalsmith & gemologist producing award-winning jewelry. Working as a solitary artist, he cuts most of the stones used in his designs. Armstrong says, “Forming by hand and heat of torch allows me to control the process yet allows serendipitous elements as I fabricate high karat gold and sterling silver into one-of-a kind pieces often featuring gems too rare for main stream jewelry”.

The Jewelry Trunk show will showcase designs from Armstrong’s private collection – a line which consists of pendants, rings, and cuffs crafted in a contemporary style using both silver and gold interspersed with pearls, gemstones or diamonds. With more than 50 awards for jewelry design and lapidary art, Armstrong’s work is sold throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Join the gallery for this special event to view the lovely and inspiring lines by featured designers. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet Ran Armstrong and discuss his engaging work. Also the ongoing “From a Textural Point of View” can be viewed along with the paintings, glass, sculpture and clay in the Mid-Summer Group Exhibition. The monthly fourth Saturday Tour de Art, which features galleries and artists’ private studios, also occurs this date.
