June 12, 2013. The Capstone Collegiate Communities (CCC) development, Cottages of Boone, on Poplar Grove Road South is to be completed on August 15, said VP of marketing and leasing Jen Wilson.
However the winter and spring weather will delay one section of the development.
“Due to heavy rainfall this past winter and spring,” Wilson said. “One lodge building housing approximately 40 residents could be delayed for a short period of time.”
The residents that signed leases for the lodge have been notified and set up with alternative housing, Wilson added.
The development will have 894 beds, offered in three-, four- or five-bedroom cottages, as well as in one-, three- or four-bedroom lodge apartments. There are also plans for a swimming pool and fitness center at the Cottages of Boone.
The Cottages, when finished, could be the largest student housing community in Watauga County.
Joe Furman, director of planning and inspections in Watauga County refused to make a comment about the time frame.
According to Furman, the property will have private on-sight wells and a sewer system, as well as a water detention system.
Kait Keller, leasing start up specialist with the Cottages of Boone, said that are still openings for those looking to lease.
The Cottages of Boone leasing office is directly beside Appalachian State campus at 969 Rivers St.
