Canvas Beauty Bar in Boone to Host ‘Cuts and Cocoa’ on Nov. 6 to Benefit Women’s Fund

A good haircut can change the way a woman sees herself. A generous act can change the trajectory of a woman’s life. On Nov. 6, community members can achieve both at the same time.

The Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge and Canvas Beauty Bar are partnering to make a difference in the lives of women. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 6, Canvas Beauty Bar will host a “Cuts and Cocoa” event. By scheduling a haircut for that day and mentioning the Women’s Fund, 50 percent of proceeds will go to the WFBR. Canvas is a women-owned, local salon in the heart of Boone with the mission to make women feel beautiful and to redefine the beauty industry.

WFBR is a local philanthropic nonprofit supporting local agencies that help women and girls.

Together, the two entities are striving to empower women to look their best while making an impact on those in need. This collaboration allows customers to support a local business while also making a difference in the lives of women.

“I absolutely love seeing the level of support that local businesses have shown the Women’s Fund over the years. It is so encouraging to see these businesses going out of their way to support our mission and to be a part of what we are doing,” said WFBR Executive Director Karen Sabo. “I could not be more grateful for Canvas and this fabulous event they are hosting for us.”

To make an appointment, call Canvas at 828-355-9688. The fundraiser applies only to haircuts, and customers must mention WFBR for the money to be donated. There will also be baked goods and hot cocoa for sale throughout the day. Canvas owners Miah Zimmerman and Heather Rodgers encourage people to come visit the salon even if they don’t have plans for a haircut.
