BSG’s 4th Winter Warmer Project Has A Collection Event at Appalachian Mountain Brewery Saturday

BSG has been holding it’s 4th Winter Warmer Project this season. What started as a coat drive and has now grown to a $20,000 + effort to help keep people warm throughout the extended High Country winters. 213 riders took advantage of early registration for the 20th BSG and donated $60 each earmarked for the Winter Warmer Project.

A coat/blanket drive will be held at Appalachian Mountain Brewery on Saturday, Dec. 16 from noon to 7 p.m. Members of the BSG Board will be at Appalachian Mountain Brewery this Saturday to collect any gently used coats, blankets, boots, hats, gloves …. Anything to keep people warm during the winter.     AMB is providing a complementary Christmas “Cheer” to anyone who brings a coat or blanket or donates $10

Also, group of folks in Clayton, NC lead by BSG Planning Committee member Kim Paisley, have been knitting and collecting coats and a collection box at Hair Creations has yielded numerous coats and warm weather gear.   An additional collection box is at SECU in Newland and Keller Williams office in Boone

Once the collections are completed and sorted, donated funds will be spent during post Christmas sales to purchase items needed.   BSG is currently working with Watauga County Sheriffs Office, Boone Police Department, and social workers from Watauga County Schools to identify and assess those in need.
