Dog lovers and craft beer connoisseurs teamed up on Thursday at the Inn at Crestwood for its Brew-Cause charity event — a celebration of local brew and barbecue in support of Partners! Canines.
Guests arrived at the inn around 6:30 p.m. and picked up their tickets for dinner and drinks. Barbecue was served and partygoers enjoyed tasting samples from Boondocks Brewing, Lost Province Brewing Company and Blind Squirrel Brewery.
While the combination of local beer and barbecue is always a recipe for a good time, guests showed up to support Partners! Canines — a nonprofit organization that goes above and beyond to provide healthier, happier lives for shelter pets.
Partners! Canines offers pet training and teaching sessions, proceeds from which help its workers transport dogs and puppies from shelters to no-kill facilities and rescue organizations, giving them a safe place to wait for a forever home.
According to its website, Partners! began as a canine training and behavior counseling business and became a nonprofit in 2007 to expand its shelter canine transport and rescue efforts.
“Intake numbers of dogs and puppies in rural southern shelters is extremely high. Many times, puppies and highly-adoptable dogs are being euthanized due to lack of space,” the site reads. “We hope to help shelters change their intake policies, promote spay and neuter in communities and find ways to rescue the majority of adoptable dogs and puppies in high-kill shelters.”
Partners! Rescued more than 2,500 dogs and puppies in 2014, and they’re working hard to help even more this year. To learn more, make a donation or get involved, read more about the organization online.
