The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM) will host their Young at Art Student Spectacular during the Summer Exhibition Celebration on May 4 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. It will showcase various art pieces created by kindergarten to second grade students at Blowing Rock Elementary School through BRAHM’s Educational Outreach Program. The event is free and open to the public.
The Young at Art Student Spectacular is a kid-friendly event in the Alexander Community Gallery at the Museum. The Spectacular will include an art viewing, snacks, art activities and a Museum scavenger hunt.
The Student Spectacular will display art projects students created throughout the school year during the Young at Art program. Young at Art is designed to expand upon the art curriculum offered to kindergarten through second graders at Blowing Rock Elementary School. Each class visits BRAHM once a month for a lesson about art or history accompanied by a hands-on art project. The students are able to experiment with a variety of media and techniques as well as visit museum galleries through the program.
The Young at Art educational outreach program is part of the museum’s overall philosophy to strengthen the community by sharing their resources to promote inclusion and make the arts available to all.
“Young at Art has been a great experience for my kindergarten class. I am so impressed with the art lessons they get each month, and our kindergarten students give a big cheer when it is BRAHM ART DAY,” said Laura Seagle, Kindergarten teacher.
