BRAHM Collecting Coats and Canned Food Nov. 4 Through Dec. 22 to Support Local Nonprofits

Just in time for the winter,  the  Blowing Rock Art and History Museum is collecting coats, hats, scarves, glove and non-perishable food items for Watauga County’s Hunger and Health Coalition and for Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S. from Nov. 4-Dec. 22.

“BRAHM is pleased to serve as a collection site for these two wonderful community organizations,” said BRAHM Executive Director Lee Carol Giduz. “We live in a community with many people in need and this project gives those of us who can contribute the chance to do so. It is our hope that using the museum as a drop-off site will make it easier for people to contribute to both organizations.”cansandcoats2015

BRAHM will also give a $2 discount on museum admission for all donations.

The Hunger and Health Coalition is dedicated to relieving poverty and hunger in a compassionate manner for families and individuals who are experiencing economic hardship and food shortage. This  assistance may include food, medicine, and referrals to other community resources. The Hunger and Health Coalition meets emergency needs while acting as a community resource , aiding those in need to find a more permanent solution.

Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S. is a food pantry that provides basic, nonperishable food to families and individuals in Watauga County. It supplements county services and works in cooperation with other countywide efforts. No one is sent away hungry.

This food and clothing drive is part of the museum’s community outreach. BRAHM is open Tuesdays through Saturdays,  10 a.m. – 5 p.m. with extended hours on Donation Day Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. The Museum is located in downtown Blowing Rock at 159 Chestnut Street on the corner of Chestnut and Main Street.  For more information about this program or other upcoming activities at BRAHM, call 828-295-9099 or visit www.blowingrockmuseum.org.
