The Boone Town Council will hold a community input session regarding the Howard Street improvement project at The Uptown in Boone, which is located at 182 Howard St., on Tuesday, June 9, at 6 p.m.

Earlier this year, the Town of Boone released a feasibility study that recommended turning the entire stretch of West Howard Street into a westbound, one-way street and Appalachian Street into a southbound, one-way street.

Under the recommended scenario, the study also vouched for adding pedestrian signals and an optimized traffic signal to accommodate future traffic volumes.

After the study was released, local business owners along Howard Street criticized the results of the study and asked the Boone Town Council to hold a meeting so they could provide input on what they would like to see done along Howard Street.

The Boone Town Council agreed. Representatives from Glave and Holmes Architecture, which designed the one-way concept, will be on hand to answer any questions or address concerns from members of the public.
