Boone Town Council To Discuss Potential $4.6M Purchase of 58 Acres Near Brookshire

By Jesse Wood

BrookshireOn Thursday, the Boone Town Council will continue discussions on the potential purchase of more than 58 acres near Brookshire Park for $4.68 million.

A budget amendment request included in the upcoming meeting’s packet states that the purchase of land would be for a municipal complex. The funds would come from the general fund, the town facilities capital reserve fund and the water/sewer infrastructure capital reserve fund.

The four parcels of land border the New River, slotted in between Brookshire Park and the Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.

In February, the Boone Town Council discussed this proposal in closed session. On Thursday, the matter will be discussed in open session.
