Boone Police Department Awaits Autopsy, Toxicology Results Before Determining Cause of ASU Student’s Death

Feb. 4. 2014. Investigators with the Boone Police Department are awaiting autopsy and toxicological results from the medical examiner before determining the cause of Taylor David Pavlick’s death on Sunday, Jan. 26, according to a Boone Police Department release sent on Monday evening. 

Pavlick, 26, was a senior at Appalachian State University majoring in psychology. Responders with the Boone Police Department, Boone Fire Department and Watauga Medics responded to 1469 West King Street just after 6 p.m. “in reference to a male suffering a medical emergency,” according to a release from the Boone Police Department. 

Pavlick was determined deceased by responders with the first-arriving unit. The release, which is dated Monday, Feb. 3, noted, “there are no indications that the death is suspicious.” It’s been reported that drug and/or alcohol use was involved. 

Pavlick was a member of the TKE fraternity, and he was on the Dean’s List at ASU and a member of the National Honor Society, according to his obituary posted on the website of Cavin Cook Funeral Home.

“He had a huge heart and was a very loving young man,” his obituary reads.

Taylor David Pavlick, 21, of Sherrills Ford, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, in Boone. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 25, 1992, to Charles Pavlick & Margaret O’Quinn Pavlick.

Taylor was a 2010 graduate of Mooresville High School. He was a senior at Appalachian State University in Boone where he pledged to TKE Fraternity. Taylor was on the Dean’s list at the University and a member of the National Honor Society. He loved to play video games, music and loved to attend concerts. He had a huge heart and was a very loving young man.

Taylor is survived by his mother, Margaret Pavlick & step-father, Kip Trusler; father, Charles Pavlick and step-mother, Dede; sister, Abi; brother, Charles & wife, Reagan & brother, Aaron; grandparents, Paula & David O’Quinn, Jr. & Vera Pavlick; great grandmother, Margaret Coggins; Aunt Char, Uncle David, cousin, Chrissy and niece, Chandler and his dogs, Sadie, Cali, Major and Asia. Taylor is predeceased by his grandfather, Charles Pavlick. 

A Memorial service was held on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7:00 p.m. in Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Pavlick family.
