Feb. 27, 2013. The Boone Police Department is still investigating and seeking any new information about the rape of a 21-year-old ASU student that occurred across the street from Earth Fare, in between Hamby Alley and West King Street, at about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to Sgt. Shane Robbins.
“At this point, no new information has come in. No more on the suspects or vehicle description,” Robbins said. “I wish we did.”
According to the Boone Police Department, the woman reported that she was walking alone in the vicinity of the 300 block of West King Street when a vehicle occupied by two Hispanic males stopped alongside to inquire if the victim was OK.
The vehicle proceeded to drive away. A short time later, however, the victim reported that she was grabbed from behind, forced behind a building and sexually assaulted by a Hispanic male who was described as being short in stature with stocky/pudgy build.
Robbins added that “there is a chance” that the two individuals in the vehicle who stopped to inquire about the victim had nothing to do with the sexual assault.
“It isn’t a guarantee,” Robbins said.
As for more details about the incident, Robbins isn’t disclosing because the investigation is ongoing.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Boone Police Department at 828-268-6900 or High Country Crime Stoppers at 828-268-6959. All information will be kept confidential and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
