May 20, 2014. Coming up on Saturday, May 31, Art Mart is hosting its first Boone Paint Out. This is a free event open to the public, and artists of all ages are encouraged to come out and participate.

Artists will meet at Art Mart at 10 a.m. and spend the day making art using King Street as their subject matter. For a $10 entrance fee, artists may also enter their work into a competition for a chance to win prizes, including merchandise and gift certificates.

On the following Friday, June 6, a reception will be held at Art Mart from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. where all submitted work will be displayed and prizes will be given out.

Pieces submitted for competition should be on a canvas no larger than 18×24 inches and must feature King Street as its subject matter in some way. All mediums are welcome, from oil or acrylic paintings to pen-and-ink or graphite drawings. The last day to turn in all artwork, whether for general display or for competition, is Thursday, June 5.

This is the first year that Art Mart is hosting the event, and John Bond of Art Mart hopes it will draw a crowd. He remarks how the event is a great way to “gather the art community and share art together,” while allowing a “closer look at King Street.”
