The Boone Moose, Lodge 1805, held its eighth annual Benefit Ride for Hospice on Saturday, Sept. 19 and through its efforts, raised $3,850 for the local charity.
The motorcycle ride is held each year to raise money for the Avery and Watauga Hospice to assist patients with basic needs not provided by Hospice, such as heating oil or electricity. Over the past eight years, Boone Moose Lodge, riders of the Benefit Ride and sponsors have raised $24,550.
“We really appreciate the folks that came out to ride with us and all of the sponsors that helped put on the event.” said Jimmy Hughes, President of the Boone Moose Riders. “Our Moose Lodge enjoys giving back to the community and especially to those in special need.” he remarked.
