Boone Brethren Church ‘Brings the Music’ Like No Other

By Rebecca Gitlen

July 11, 1012. If you’re new to our Church or are considering joining them for a service Sunday at 11 a.m., you will find a place where you are welcomed and feel at home, even if you’re not a regular church attender. At their services, Senior Pastor Chris Eidse presents the spiritual truths of the Bible in progressive, interesting and easy-to-understand ways.

The Mennonite Brethren church, located in the Junaluska community, started in 1918, becoming a community center as well as a place for worship that has served Watauga County for nearly a century. The church is one of only a handful of remaining Mennonite Brethren congregations in the area that originally flourished during the early part of the 20th century around Boone, Elk Park and Caldwell County. Boone Mennonite Brethren Church located at 161 Church Street, Boone.

“Our church has got a special place in Boone,” said Pastor Eidse. “It’s the only historic black church left in Watauga County. That’s something we’re proud of and we want to promote that. The church has been multi-racial since the early days.”

The Boone Mennonite Brethren Church’s doors are open to everyone, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey.

Their Mission is “to connect people to Jesus and each other as we Build disciples, Grow our faith, and Serve in Christ’s name.”

The church’s programs include:

Mens Bible Study: Every Monday night at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Join this casual group every Monday as they study, talk, pray and just have a good time together. They are currently studying the book of Acts.

Youth Group: Youth meets every Wednesday at the church at 6:30 p.m. This great group of children through high school students does a variety of fun activities and Bible studies. Food is always included.

Choir: The church has an active choir that practices every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The choir is always open to new members regardless of singing talents. The church is more interested that your singing is coming from the heart.

Boone MB Church embraces eight Core Values. These values are the things that they do all the time — at every stage of ministries and can be viewed here.
