On Thursday, the Boone Town Council will hear recommendations on how to improve traffic concerns from residents living near the new Zaxby’s restaurant on the N.C. 105 Extension.

Zaxby’s opened in early October, and patronage to the new restaurant was felt immediately on the neighborhood roads. The Boone Town Council heard concerns from numerous residents of the Beverly Heights neighborhood in a prior meeting and agreed to take the matter up at a Nov. 10 Transportation Committee meeting. They also invited concerned citizens to attend for input.

In order to slow traffic in the Beverly Heights neighborhood, the committee is recommending that the Boone Town Council approve of speed humps on Sheridan Avenue and Berkley Avenue. It also recommends an investigation into the feasibility of placing a speed hump on the lower section of Beverly Heights Drive.

The Boone Town Council meets on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers on Blowing Rock Road and will consider the recommendations.
