The town of Boone is bursting with holiday cheer as it prepares for the annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, which has been enchanting the community for years. Come watch as festive floats, decked out fire trucks, draft-horse-drawn wagons lead the way for performers of ‘Horn in the West’ and of Studio K’s ‘The Nutcracker.” Make sure to stay until the end of the parade to see Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves make a special trip down south to spread some Christmas cheer in the High Country.

This year, the parade will begin at 11 a.m. and run right through the heart of Boone as it travels west to east along King Street, between Poplar Grove Connector Rd. at Galileo’s Restaurant, and the intersection with Hardin Street at Daniel Boone Inn. This hometown celebration normally draws in a couple hundred visitors, so parking may be limited. Make sure to get there early to claim a perfect viewing spot!

The fun does not stop there! Be sure to stop by The Jones House Cultural and Community Center at 604 W. King St. (right next to Mast General Store’s Old Boone Mercantile) to fuel your Christmas spirit with some free cookies and hot apple cider. There is no better place to be than downtown with warm drinks and great company on a cold winter’s day, and the Jones House promises exactly that.
