As of 11:30am today, December 28, 2017, our Water Treatment Plant reported that the water samples that were taken yesterday in response to the System Pressure Advisory are negative of any bacteria.

THE BOIL WATER ADVISORY HAS BEEN LIFTED AND THE WATER IS AND HAS BEEN SAFE TO DRINK.

We extend our sincerest appreciation to our customers for their patience and understanding during this time. During the early morning hours of Dec. 27 an individual driving on Hwy 105 had an accident and struck multiple fire hydrants. The individual involved in the accident was arrested and faces multiple charges involving driving impaired and alcohol consumption. Shortly after the accident the Boone water system experienced a significant leak in the area of the accident, causing pressure in the entire system to drop. Due to the drop in pressure, a state mandated precautionary boil advisory was issued and state mandated testing was conducted.

In light of these recent events, the Town of Boone encourages residents and business owners to participate in the CodeRED emergency notification system offered by Watauga County.
