By Ken Ketchie

Nov. 25, 2012. Thousands of people visited Blowing Rock over the Thanksgiving weekend to enjoy the town’s annual holiday celebrations. On Friday, the town celebrated its annual Christmas in the Park and Lighting of the Town. The event included a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and the ceremonial lighting of the giant Christmas tree in front of Town Hall. On Saturday the annual parade began at 2:00 p.m. as hundreds of people lined Main Street for  dancers, families and floats, live music, classic cars, dignitaries, a few clowns and following up at the end of the parade, the fire trucks and Santa Claus.
