Some of you may have noticed a police vehicle in your neighborhood last week with blue lights dimly glowing on top. The glowing lights are part of a new initiative aimed at increasing police visibility in the neighborhoods.
Often citizens are not aware that vehicles moving slowly or turning in their neighborhoods after dark are police. Police vehicles equipped with the “cruiser mode” lights allow officers to turn on the lights when patrolling neighborhoods to help identify our vehicles. Our first vehicle with the new light mode went on line this month. More vehicles are scheduled to up-fitted soon.
One traffic accident was reported last week. The collision occurred on Valley Blvd at Wilco Hess when a 2006 Mercury driven by Paige Estella Vaughn of Hope Mills NC tuned into the path of an oncoming vehicle. The second vehicle, a 2004 Lexus was driven by Loring Wright Tilley of Todd NC. No injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at $5,000.
A laptop computer was reported stolen from a vehicle on August 22nd. The computer was reported to be stolen from a vehicle that was parked on Wallingford between the hours of 2:00pm and 11:00pm. The incident is under investigation.
Four citations were issued last week. The charges included no operator’s license, unsafe movement and open container.
