The spirit of Blowing Rock was alive and well at “Groovy Nights” last week. What a great performance. Thanks the Blowing Rock Community Foundation, our friends and neighbors who performed and all the folks who support the Foundation for making our Town a special place.
Blowing Rock Police has bid farewell to Officer Troy Reynolds. Troy has served as a police officer at the ABC officer for over four years. Troy has accepted a position closer to home in Caldwell County. Best wishes to Troy as he begins a new endeavor.
A half marathon sponsored by www.exploreboonearea.com will make its way into Blowing Rock by 8am Saturday morning. Runners will follow a course through the Mayview Neighborhood before finishing at the Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve. Please be alert for runners in that area.
Telesforo Torpia Cervantes, 50, of Vilas was arrested on August 16 and charged with driving while impaired. The stop occurred at 8:55 pm on Valley Blvd. Cervantes was held at the Watauga County Jail on a secured bond.
Daniel Eugene Wilson, 37, of Boone was arrest on August 17. Officers, responding to a disturbance at Town Tavern, arrived to find Wilson being subdued by several people at the bar. After a brief struggle with officers, Wilson was taking into custody and charged with being drunk and disruptive and resisting arrest. Wilson was held at the Watauga County Jail on a $750 secured bond.
Six citations were issued last week. The charges included speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia, inspection violation and expired registration.
