Soon many of our seasonal residents will be leaving Blowing Rock to spend the winter in warmer climates. Before leaving your summer homes there are some things that you can do to help keep your property safe.
Installing an alarm system is the best way to keep your home protected from theft and fire.
Have a caretaker for your home and make sure that your alarm monitoring company has accurate contact information for that person.
Let trusted neighbors know when your plan to leave and return and notify them if guest will be using your home.
Make sure that mail is forwarded and forward or discontinue newspaper subscriptions.
Make your home a hard target for thieves by installing dead bolt locks and perimeter lighting.
Providing the Police Department with your emergency contact information and the dates that home will be vacant is very helpful. Information can be given to us by calling 295-5212 Monday through Friday during normal business hours.
