Blowing Rock Police Department’s Weekly Brief Sheet Highlights Officer Matt Royal, Recent Arrests, Incidents

July 17, 2013. Courtesy of  the Blowing Rock Police Department, here is the weekly “Brief Sheet,” compiled by Capt. Aaron Miller on Tuesday, July 16.

This month’s highlighted officer is Matt Royal. Matt completed basic law enforcement training in May of 2011. He began his career as a law enforcement officer here in Blowing Rock in January of 2012. Matt serves as a Police Officer I and is currently our departments liaison for the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Matt lives in the Todd community with his wife Lizi, who is currently expecting their first child. 

Two arrests were reported last week.

Ryan Matthew Pearman, 36, of Raleigh was arrested on July 10th and charged with driving while impaired. Pearman was release by the magistrate on a written promise to appear.

Kamile Cassaundra Brown, 23, of Boone was arrested on July 12th. Brown was arrested following a traffic stop on Valley Blvd after it was discovered that she had outstanding warrants. Officers found that Brown was wanted in Gaston County NC for failure to appear and was also wanted in Portland Oregon for interstate transporting of stolen property. Brown was held at the Watauga County Jail on a $50,500 secured bond.

Other incident reports taken last week include a larceny of cast iron flower pots from a home on Rhododendron Drive, a larceny of gas from a vehicle and a defrauding of an innkeeper when guest of a local hotel left without paying their bill.  

Five citations were issued last week. The charges include driving while license revoked, expired registration, no seat belt and improper equipment.
