Blowing Rock Art and History Museum Introduces a New Series: Dinner and a Movie

Enjoy dinner and a movie in downtown Blowing Rock! The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM) has partnered with local restaurants Bistro Roca, Six Pence Pub and The Town Tavern to create a brand new “dinner and a movie” series at 159 Chestnut St.

After the screening at BRAHM, present your movie ticket to any of the three participating restaurants in order to receive a 10 percent discount on your meal, which is good for any of the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday film nights.

There should be plenty to fuel your downtown discussion over delicious dinner and drinks!

The monthly Movies at the Museum series features 10 films on all sorts of topics: from an exploration of the artistic world of advertising to Béla Fleck’s quest for the history of the banjo to the innovative outdoor art of Patrick Dougherty.

Each film will be followed by a facilitated discussion. Visit www.blowingrockmuseum.org for a complete listing of films and discussion leaders.

On Tuesday, Feb 23, at 6 p.m., Art & Copy (dir. Doug Pray) will kick off Movies at the Museum. (Snow date: Tuesday, March 15.)

The film’s Executive Producer Mary Warlick will be on hand to lead the Q&A after the film.

Admission is $5 for members and students, and $7 for nonmembers.

Screenings begin at 6 p.m., and doors open at 5.30 p.m.

About Art & Copy

Art & Copy is a documentary about the inspiration and creativity behind some of the world’s most famous advertisements.

It was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming in 2011, and it was an official selection at the Sundance Festival in 2009.

It reveals the work of some of the most influential advertising giants of our time. George Lois, Mary Wells, Dan Wieden, Lee Clow, Hal Riney and others featured in Art & Copy were responsible for “Just Do It,” “I Love NY,” “Where’s the Beef?,” “Got Milk,” “Think Different” and other brilliant campaigns for everything from cars to presidents.
Warlick also produced Emmy Award-winning program The Real Mad Men and Women of Madison Avenue (2013) and was the Chief Executive Officer of the One Club for several decades. During that time, she produced the prestigious One Show Awards at Lincoln Center in New York, curated exhibitions on advertising and lectured extensively.

She was named one of Advertising Age’s Most Influential Women in Advertising in 2012.
