Nearly thirty paintings of rural barns by American artist Wolf Kahn will be exhibited along with dozens of regionally-made quilts representing the best of Appalachian creativity and handiwork. The paintings are on loan from the Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte as well as from several private collections.

The beautiful paintings and quilts will be on display throughout the museum’s main galleries, and the exhibition is generously underwritten by the James and Beverly Cook Family.

“There are some beautiful, traditional fabric quilts as well as the great barn paintings,” said Allison Wonsick, communications manager at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum.

“The exhibit will take up the whole downstairs gallery,”

The museum will also host an opening reception on May 16 from 6-7:30 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the exhibit.

The installation of this exhibit marks the end of the “Painted Song: Art of Wiili Armstrong” exhibit which has been in place throughout the museum galleries since Nov. 8, 2014. The last day for guests to view the “Painted Song” exhibit is May 3.

The Blowing Rock Art and History Museum is located at 159 Chestnut Street in downtown Blowing Rock. For more information, visit the museum’s website here or call 828-295-9099.
