Blood Sweat and Gears 4th Winter Warmer Project Begins, See Drop-Off Details for Clothing Drive

BSG is holding it’s 4th Winter Warmer Project this season. What started as a coat drive and has now grown to a $20,000 + effort to help keep people warm throughout the extended High Country winters. 177 riders took advantage of early registration for the 20th BSG and donated $60 each earmarked for the Winter Warmer Project.  

BSG board members will be at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, Nov. 11 to collect coats, blankets, hats and gloves. Also, a collection box will be at the Boone Mall during the Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11. Hair Creations at 643 Greenway Road will have a collection box starting November 10.

Another  coat/blanket drive will be held at Appalachian Mountain Brewery on Saturday, Dec. 16 from noon to 7 p.m.   

Once the collections are completed and sorted, donated funds will be spent during post Christmas sales to purchase items needed.   BSG is currently working with Watauga County Sheriffs Office, Boone Police Department, and social workers from Watauga County Schools to identify and assess those in need.
