Baldridge, NC Soldier Killed in Afghanistan, Laid To Rest in West Jefferson on Friday

Corporal Dillon Baldridge, Sargent William Bays and Sargent Eric Houck were members of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team killed in Afghanistan earlier this month. Baldridge was laid to rest in Ashe County last Friday.

Corporal Dillon C. Baldridge, 22, was laid to rest in Ashe County on Friday.

Baldridge, whose mom lives in West Jefferson, was part of the 101st Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team. Baldridge along with Sgt. William Bays and Sgt. Eric Houck died in Afghanistan earlier this month.

Baldridge was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

His prior awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with three oak clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and the Expert Infantryman Badge, according to his obituary at Badger Funeral Home.
