Baird was charged after joint operation by Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Probation and Parole and the United States Marshals Service on April 20, 2015.

Officers went to Baird’s residence in Vilas, North Carolina, and found numerous items used to manufacture methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed that Baird used other individuals to purchase key ingredients in the manufacturing process.

The Honorable Gary Gavenus, Senior Resident Superior Court Judge, sentenced Baird to serve between 54-77 months in prison.

“With joint State and Federal operations like the one in this case, we continue to make strides in our efforts to confront individuals and groups who are manufacturing meth. The District Attorney’s Office will continue to hold those who make and sell illicit narcotics accountable for their actions,” District Attorney Seth Banks staid. “I appreciate the efforts of the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Probation and Parole, the US Marshals Service, and Assistant District Attorney Matt Rupp for their efforts in bringing Christopher Baird to justice.”
