Pan Miller Davis, 65, of Sally Street, Boone, wife of Brent Davis, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2015, at Watauga Medical Center.

Daniel Julius Scott (Jan. 31, 1944 – May 16, 2015)


Daniel Julius Scott, 71, of Old Highway 421, Zionville, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015.

Julius was born Jan. 31, 1944 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a son of the late Roscoe Julius Scott and Janie Hardee Scott. He was a retired farmer and underwater welder, and a member of the Sweet Water Branch Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Julius is survived by his wife, Sharon Sue Miller Scott of the home; one son, Randle Scott and wife Emilie of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one daughter, Diane Garrett and husband Dale of Columbia, South Carolina; one step-daughter, Vicki Parsons and her friend Ray Presnell of Zionville; six sisters, Lela Stroud and Sadie Smith and husband Ducky, all of Myrtle Beach, Leila Deneuve and husband Al of Conway, South Carolina, Leona Doyle, Earline Thompson and husband Terry, and Donna Scott, all of Myrtle Beach, and two brothers, James Scott and wife Susan, and Buck Scott, all of Myrtle Beach. He is also survived by three granddaughters, two grandsons, two step-grandsons, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Bashor.

Graveside services and burial for Daniel Julius Scott will be conducted Tuesday morning, May 19, 2015 at 11:00 o’clock, at Trade United Methodist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Richie Hayes and Reverend Michael Wright.

Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made to Trade United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of R.D. Oliver, 420 Modock Road, Trade, Tennessee, 37691, or to the Julius Scott Family.

David J. Love (Jan. 26, 1946 – May 14, 2015) 


Joe David Love, 69, of Hill Drive, Fleetwood, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 14, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

Born Jan. 26, 1946 in Watauga County, he was a son of Edward Miles and Flora South Love. David loved music so much that he wrote songs, sang, and played the musical instruments that he created. He was a master woodworker, crafting and selling dulcimers, banjos and guitars. He enjoyed carving the wooden bears and toys that he sold in his small shop near his home.

Mr. Love is survived by his companion of 17 years, Anna Bell Main; brothers, James Love and wife, Isabelle of Boone and Noah Love and wife, Mary, of Morganton; his extended family, Annette Berry and husband, Steve, Melinda Ward and husband, Sean, and their children, Madyson and Ian Ward; Lisa Nauom, and husband, Nick, and Charles Arnett and wife, Christy, all of Boone; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Edward Miles and Flora South Love; he was preceded in death by one brother, Arlie South; and sisters, Mary Ward, Celie Love, Dovie Hicks and Marie Huffman.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, May 18, 2015, at 2 oclock, at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Noah Love. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1 until 2 oclock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow in the Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
